ABOUT
ASIS: The
Faces of Security Today
ASIS International, with more than 35,000 members, is the preeminent
international organization for professionals responsible for security,
including managers and directors of security. In addition, corporate
executives and other management personnel, as well as consultants,
architects, attorneys, and federal, state, and local law enforcement,
are becoming involved with ASIS to better understand the constant
changes in security issues and solutions.
ASIS is dedicated to increasing the effectiveness and productivity of
security practices by developing
educational
programs and materials that address broad security concerns, such as
the ASIS Annual Seminar and Exhibits, as well as specific security
topics. By providing members and the security community with access to a
full range of programs and services, and by publishing the only monthly
magazine focused strictly on the issues and concerns of security,
Security Management, ASIS leads the way for advanced and improved security performance.

History
Of ASIS
ASIS International (ASIS) is the largest organization for security
professionals, with more than 35,000 members worldwide. Founded in 1955,
ASIS is dedicated to increasing the effectiveness and productivity of
security professionals by developing educational programs and materials
that address broad security interests, such as the ASIS Annual Seminar
and Exhibits, as well as specific security topics. ASIS also advocates
the role and value of the security management profession to business,
the media, governmental entities, and the public. By providing members
and the security community with access to a full range of programs and
services, and by publishing the industry's number one magazine -
Security Management

ASIS
Certifications: ASIS administers three certifications programs.
The Certified Protection Professional (CPP™) designation indicates
board certification in security management, and is recognized
worldwide as the highest recognition accorded a security
practitioner. Two technical certifications have been added recently:
the Physical Security Professional (PSP™) and the Professional

Foundation: Incorporated in 1966. Funds and manages endowments
for a wide range of academic, strategic, and professional
development activities, and sponsors security industry reports and
research, such as a newly commissioned study, Overview of the
Security Industry, planned for publication in 2004.

Join
ASIS
To become a member of the ASIS CLEVELAND CHAPTER you
must first become a member of ASIS International. After being accepted
by ASIS International, return to this website and go to:
PAY LOCAL DUES. Download the invoice and
pay by check or credit card. Chapter members:

newsletters, etc.

Classes of Membership

Member: Professional in an executive, managerial, supervisory,
or responsible charge position who is primarily responsible for the
security function of their organization.
Associate: Individual with professional interest in security,
seeking the educational benefits provided by membership in ASIS.
Student Member: Full-time student actively pursuing a
security-related degree. Student membership is not available to those
who would otherwise qualify for Member or Associate status.
